Today’s creature is the flea. It’s funny to see that my “random” picks are so common.
The first thing I thought of was to get a good scratching track added in as the foundation for the piece. I also decided to use a soprano ukulele and play up the fretboard for the higher pitched sounds. I noodled around using a Kanilea soprano but when I got around to recording, it wasn’t easy to play without a strap, so I switched it for an alto Beansprout ukulele. The pitch is a bit lower, but more resonant.
Of course, using 2 instruments made it twice as long to complete, but it’s done. The Guiro track is right on, but as I mentioned in a previous post I still need to practice tracks that I compose myself. Composing is easier than playing for me. I think this might sound fun once the song gets into my muscle memory.
Here’s the music.
The demo is hilariously bad, but I left everything in, warts and all. I laughed. Hopefully you will too.
